As a prospect, Quaintance stands out as one of the most athletic and talented big men in the entire draft. In particular, Quaintance has proven himself to be one of the top defenders in the class, especially based on his tape from his freshman year. His combination of size, length, athleticism, and feel helps him be an incredible defensive playmaker who can rack up steals and blocks at an extremely high level.

>Quaintance has also shown major upside on the offensive end as well. He is an excellent lob target and rim runner, utilizing his athleticism to operate above the rim. However, he has also shown some potential with the ball in his hands as a face-up scorer, showing flashes with his ball-handling.

In a draft-day trade with the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio obtained UConn center Tarris Reed Jr., the 26th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The six-foot-eleven big man is a physical and defensively-minded prospect who possesses a sturdy frame. He uses his size and strength to great effect, applying serious physicality to both ends of the floor. He uses his strength well to be a dominant force in the post and when fighting for rebounds. That same strength also helps him hold his own against opposing centers.

Maliq BrownExpectation: Find A Way To Be A More Consistent Offensive ThreatRounding out the Spurs’ draft class is Duke forward Maliq Brown, who San Antonio took with the 44th overall pick. The six-foot-nine Duke product has shown himself as an amazing defender who plays with great motor and does all the little things a coach can ask for. While he is undersized as a big, Brown possesses the athleticism and length to be an effective defender and rebounder. In particular, he uses his hands well to be disruptive in the passing lanes.

Brown must use his rookie year to find a way to be more of a consistent threat on the offensive end.
