2027 NFL Draft summer scouting report: John Mateer, QB, Oklahoma

While it is vital that NFL teams find their franchise quarterback through the NFL Draft, it is also beneficial to find a quality, low-cost backup as well. While the 2027 NFL Draft may have a number of starters, there are backups to be found in the later rounds. One of those prospects in question could be Oklahoma's John Mateer.

I have Mateer as a fifth-round pick, and he could prove to be important in camp as a scout team quarterback, and that is how he sticks around.
