The Indianapolis Colts would make eight selections in the 2026 NFL draft, and with a few of those picks came some new training camp battles for playing time that could be unfolding over the summer.
>Here is an early look at four potential camp competitions that may now end up taking place.
Linebacker: Bryce Boettcher and Akeem Davis-GaitherOperating under the assumption that CJ Allen will be the Colts' MIKE linebacker, that leaves the WILL linebacker spot next to him up for grabs. The Colts view Boettcher as someone who can play both positions. Davis-Gaither has experience on his side and has played under Lou Anarumo for several seasons previously, but the Colts should be embracing competition for these snaps.
Running back: DJ Giddens and Seth McGowanThe backup running back role behind Jonathan Taylor is up for grabs. Of course, how these two perform as ball carriers will be important, but this battle could be decided by who performs better in the passing game, specifically as a blocker, and even special teams contributions could factor in as well.
Wide receiver: Ashton Dulin, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Deion BurksThis was already going to be a competition for the WR3 role, but the addition of Burks adds another player to the mix. Dulin's experience in Shane Steichen's offense will perhaps give him the early advantage.
Offensive line: Jalen Farmer and Matt GoncalvesAt a minimum, Farmer will boost the depth at both the guard and tackle spots, with the Colts believing he can play both positions. But as a fourth-round pick, he should have the opportunity to compete for playing time. During his pre-draft press conference, Chris Ballard said, "We're going to bet on some development," referencing Goncalves, which may tell us that he's not a lock to be a starter.
