The New York Giants selected former Tennessee star Colton Hood in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft.
>Hood was nothing short of elite throughout his three collegiate seasons. The talented cornerback has emerged as a candidate for the Giants' No. 2 cornerback role ahead of training camp, and he may very well secure an everyday role in New York’s secondary to begin the season.
>The former Tennessee standout recently shared how he believes he fits into the Giants’ defense, claiming he will be the perfect match for New York’s secondary moving forward.
>"I think I fit really well in this system. I'm aggressive, I like to get up in your face, in your grill, and we're one of those teams that play really aggressive. And that's what we are going to do on Sundays," he told Giants Huddle.
>Hood is credited with three interceptions and 77 total tackles across three seasons at Auburn, Colorado, and Tennessee. The rookie earned All-SEC honors for his efforts with the Volunteers in 2025 as well. He will now look to keep things rolling in New York’s secondary this season.
>The cornerback was widely regarded as a steal in the second round, and he could undoubtedly emerge as the next young star on the Giants’ defense in 2026 and beyond.
