Will Alvin Kamara be a member of the New Orleans Saints in 2026? That's certainly his expectation, having publicly talked about how excited he is to team up with Travis Etienne Jr. and a more experienced Tyler Shough in the New Orleans backfield. But with just $3 million guaranteed and little to no salary cap savings in the event of a release, trade rumors have continued to percolate. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis acknowledging that the team may have too many resources tied up in the running back position is certainly going to raise some eyebrows.

>And now we've got word from Kamara's agent, Brad Cicala of QC Sports. Here's his take, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

>"I did speak to his agent yesterday," Garafolo shared on Monday afternoon. "And he said 'Look, we plan on playing for the Saints in 2026. That's all I've got for you.' So we'll see what happens with Kamara now that June 1 is here."

>Because the Saints restructured Kamara's contract earlier this spring, releasing him after June 1 would essentially be a lateral move from a salary cap perspective (saving less than $400,000). They could trade him and save more by having another team pay those $3 million in guarantees, but that requires a lot of conditions that may have not been met, like finding a trade partner in the first place and insuring Kamara's talk about retiring before playing somewhere besides New Orleans was just bluster. The Saints balking at paying Kamara what they owe him has turned into a messy situation. As Garafolo said, we'll see how things pan out in the days ahead.
