Atlético Madrid could force Barcelona to take a surprise transfer stance this summer

class="wp-block-paragraph">La Liga champions Barcelona have not ruled out the possibility of heading into the new season with the current crop of attacking talent at the disposal of Hansi Flick.

class="wp-block-paragraph">This comes as the Blaugrana face up to the prospect of missing out on no.1 striker target Julián Alvarez.

class="wp-block-paragraph">The Camp Nou brass have of course been hard at work in efforts to bring Alvarez to Catalunya’s capital for some time now. Earlier in the summer, Joan Laporta and co. even went as far as to table a €100 million offer for his services.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Atlético, however, have to this point refused to even open the door to the possibility of a sale. Not only that, but the Rojiblancos have publicly stated on more than one occasion that Alvarez will be going nowhere over the weeks ahead.

class="wp-block-paragraph">And in the case of this stance remaining intact, unless the Argentine is willing to essentially hold his current employers to ransom, Barcelona could well opt to stand pat on the attacking front through the close of the window.

Julián remains a strong target, but after bringing in Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, Barça are not ruling out the possibility of not signing any more strikers this summer unless there are further high-profile departures.’
