>The Swedish international joined the Blaugrana from FC Copenhagen for a few million euros ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.
>Like most prospects, he was originally earmarked for the Barça Atletic reserve outfit but impressed Hansi Flick enough to stay with the first team group.
>As Flick has routinely mentioned, however, having one of the best players in the world in his right wing position at the Spotify Camp Nou complicates Roony’s path to regular starting time.
>Even when Lamine Yamal has been injured, however, the 20 year-old hasn’t taken the opportunities afforded to him.
>We saw this towards the end of the term when Lamine suffered a campaign-ending hamstring knock, with Flick even trying Marcus Rashford on the right wing to Roony’s detriment.
Roony Bardghji looks set to spend 2026/2027 away from BarcelonaAs things stand, Ajax is leading the race to acquire the forward’s services on a temporary basis, with the Amsterdam giant’s sporting director Jordi Cruyff using his network built during time serving the same function at Barça to make an approach.
class="ft-text">A permanent sale is ruled out entirely, but a loan without a buy option could give Roony much-needed European experience in a new project being built by the Eredivisie outfit amid a general restructuring.
class="ft-text">In 2025/2026, Roony amassed 872 minutes across all competitions which yielded two goals and four assists.

class="ft-text">It is no surprise then that Betis are one of two Spanish clubs also interested in Roony, with the other Celta Vigo.
class="ft-text">As said, however, Ajax are currently best placed to land the youngster that needs to regain his confidence after being left out of Sweden’s World Cup squad by manager Graham Potter.
