Bengals lose player at key roster spot to Dolphins

The Cincinnati Bengals are struggling at the linebacker spot right now.

>Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter just had big problems during the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Depth has been an issue, which is why they bumped Joe Giles-Harris to the active roster from the practice squad before the game in Pittsburgh.

>After the loss, though, the Bengals lost practice squad linebacker Shaka Heyward to the Miami Dolphins.

>Depth woes and the Dolphins signing Heyward would explain why the Bengals worked out linebackers Emany Johnson and Anfernee Orji before Week 4.

>Had the Dolphins not grabbed Heyward, he would’ve been one of the next players promoted to the 53, or at least bumped during game days, to join Giles-Harris, Oren Burks and Swayze Bozeman as key depth.

>Instead, the Bengals are keeping an eye on depth in free agency and perhaps other practice squads around the NFL.
