>The Canadians got a hat trick from striker Jonathan David. The win came with a price as Ismael Kone broke his left leg on a hard tackle by Qatar's Madibo. The Qatar player was given a red card and sent off after his dangerous play.

>Later, in Guadalajara, Mexico defeated South Korea, 1-0. The victory earned Mexico the Group A title and advanced it to the round of 32.

>Mexico will play its next two matches in Mexico City, at least. There is a final Group stage match against Czechia on June 24 and then a knockout round match following.
