>The Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers have reportedly agreed to a trade before Monday's 6 p.m. EDT deadline.

>According to Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, the Blue Jays have acquired infielder/outfielder Josh Smith from the Rangers.

>"Rangers are trading Josh Smith to Toronto," Grant wrote on X. "Getting lefty Adam Macko in return."

>In the trade, the Rangers will also receive minor league starting pitcher Josh Stephan, according to The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Blue Jays acquire Josh Smith from Rangers Smith, 28, is a five-year veteran who helped lead the Rangers to a World Series title in 2023.

>Defensively, the left-handed hitter can play all over the diamond except at the catcher's position. Smith has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock three times by the Rangers in 2026.

>In 45 Major League games this season, he slashed .213/.299/.272 with one home run and a .571 OPS. Smith's offensive production has spiraled in recent years, following a career high .731 OPS with 13 homers in 149 games in 2024.

>Though the Blue Jays are sellers at this deadline, they plan to contend in 2027. The AL East club added Jose Soriano to their rotation in a trade with the Los Angeles Angels earlier today.

>Smith is under club control through the 2028 season.
