Broncos offense comes to life after 6 stagnant quarters to top Jaguars, fend off 0-2 hole

Through six quarters of their NFL season, the Denver Broncos had tallied a grand total of one touchdown. Five first-half possessions against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday featured two trips to the red zone and just three points.

style="text-align: left;">But there were no such struggles after halftime. Denver’s offense got on track for the first time this season to secure a 20-13 come-from-behind win over the Jaguars.

style="text-align: left;">The Broncos scored on three consecutive second-half possessions that included two touchdowns, then effectively ran a four-minute drill to ice the win in the fourth quarter.

style="text-align: left;">It added up to some much-needed success for third-year quarterback Bo Nix and offensive coordinator Davis Webb, who took heat for his play-calling debut in Week 1’s 31-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

style="text-align: left;">Bo Nix outplayed Trevor Lawrence, who struggled against a stout Denver defense playing its first game at home. And after posting a dud in his Broncos debut, Jayden Waddle was the spark Denver expected when they traded a package including a first-round pick to acquire him in the offseason.

style="text-align: left;">Waddle tallied 8 catches for 138 yards, including a 29-yard third-down gain late in the fourth quarter that kept Denver’s game-sealing drive alive.

style="text-align: left;">The much-needed win thwarted an 0-2 hole for the Broncos that could have tanked their season ahead of a difficult schedule that features games against the Rams, 49ers, Chargers and Seahawks in the next four weeks. While still daunting, that slate is not as ominous while sitting at 1-1.
