Broncos QB Bo Nix breaks down Jaylen Waddle’s two big catches vs. Jags

During the Denver Broncos' 20-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle broke out in a big way, catching eight passes for 138 yards in his home debut.

>Waddle, the Broncos' biggest offseason addition, showed his skill set from running shallow crossers to burning cornerbacks deep in the win. But there were two plays of Waddle's first big game as a Bronco that stuck out in quarterback Bo Nix's mind.

>The first catch was a 49-yard bomb from Nix to Waddle in the second quarter, which ended up on the one-yard line.

>"The first one was — we did a good job of scheming a deep shot," Nix explained in his post-game press conference.

I got flushed to the right, but he was on the left running at a deep post and once we got those safeties down, they tried to drop kick from the backside corner, but he couldn't really get there, and he did a really good job of keeping it thin at the beginning but then adjusting to the football and leaving me some space to throw it."

>The second catch was just as important, coming on the final drive of the game as the Broncos were trying to salt the game away. Waddle came across the formation in motion, and absolutely smoked the Jaguars corner covering him on the play, resulting in a huge third-down conversion.

"(Waddle) got out there and double-moved them, ran a great route and at that point keep him away from the post safety, get the completion, get a first down and then you can ice the game. But (those were) two extremely important plays throughout the game and going to a very explosive player."

>Waddle's presence and scheming was undeniable in Week 2, and he proved that when the ball goes into his hands, good things are bound to happen. He figures to remain a key part of the offense going forward.

>Waddle and Co. now prepare to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.
