LeBron James’ free agency is one of the hottest topics this offseason, and the 41-year-old forward has been linked to several NBA teams following his departure from the Los Angeles Lakers after an eight-year stint.
>Among them are the Cleveland Cavaliers, with whom James won a championship 10 years ago. For former league MVP Charles Barkley, James should go back to where it all began to close out his illustrious career.
>“If he goes to Philly people are going to say he’s ring chasing to catch Michael (Jordan). If he goes to Golden State, they’re going to say he’s ring-chasing. He don’t have no affiliation to Philadelphia or Golden State,” Barkley said on Unfiltered With Ricky Bo and Bill Colarulo.
>“I’ll be honest with you guys, if he goes to the Cavaliers, which is what I think the rightful thing, because that’s his home, he grew up there, they’re probably going to be favored to win the East, in my opinion,” he continued. “Because they’ve got a good team. They’re lacking leadership. And LeBron’s a great leader. To me, it’ll be a fitting way for him to finish his career, in my opinion.”

>Moreover, renowned insider Shams Charania said that Mitchell has made it clear “behind the scenes” that he’s embracing the idea of LeBron James returning to the Cavaliers for the second time around.
>“It doesn’t hurt that a franchise cornerstone has now doubled down on his commitment to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Donovan Mitchell, I’m told, has been very active and a significant part of the conversations with Cavs officials about upgrading the roster this summer. And yes, that includes the pursuit of LeBron James,” Charania said on NBA Today.
>A core of Donovan Mitchell, LeBron James, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and James Harden would surely compete in the Eastern Conference. It would be ideal if James agrees to a veteran minimum, given the team’s financial constraints.
