Colorado football updated two-deep offensive depth chart entering camp

As Colorado football's fourth fall camp under head coach Deion Sanders begins, several question marks remain on both sides of the ball regarding who will start.

>The addition of 40-plus transfers, most of whom were highly productive players at their previous schools, means there are plenty of position battles that will take center stage over the next month.

>On offense, a brand new five-person group will be charged with protecting star quarterback Julian Lewis, and the redshirt freshman will have a mostly revamped wide receiver room to throw to. Not to mention a brand new offense and playcaller with Brennan Marion bringing his own scheme, the Go-Go, to Boulder.

Quarterback

>Starter: Julian Lewis

>Backup: Isaac Wilson

>Last year at this time, Lewis was locked in a battle with veteran Kaidon Salter; this time around, he has a firmer grasp on the starting job. Utah transfer Isaac Wilson will press him this fall and throughout the season, but it would be a step backward for Lewis if he can't beat out Wilson.

Running Back

>Starter: Damian Henderson II

>Backup(s): Richard Young, Micah Welch, DeKalon Taylor, JaQuail Smith

>Knowing Marion's offense, I would not be surprised if, on the first offensive snap of the season, two running backs line up in the backfield. I am giving Henderson the nod because he knows the scheme from Sacramento State, but all five have a chance to start.

Wide Receiver

>Starter (X): Danny Scudero

Backup: Joseph Williams, Quanell Farrakhan Jr.Starter (Z): DeAndre Moore Jr.

Backup(s): Ernest Campbell, Hykeem WilliamsStarter (Slot): Kam Perry

Backup: Quentin GibsonColorado has an extremely deep wide receiver room, and similar to the running backs, I would expect a lot of rotation. Joseph Williams is a starting-quality receiver, as is Quentin Gibson; both should feature heavily despite being listed as backups here.

Tight End

>Starter: Zach Atkins

>Backup: Fisher Clements

>The tight ends should have a larger presence in Marion's offense, but there is a drop-off after Atkins. I think Fisher Clements is the best receiver other than Atkins, so he gets the nod here. Corbin Laisure and Brady Kopetz are other depth options.

Left Tackle

>Starter: Bo Hughley

>Backup: Jayven Richardson

>Hughley does not have a ton of experience coming from a crowded Georgia roster, but he has the pedigree. Richardson, a transfer from Missouri, can win either tackle job, but looks like a solid swing tackle for the Buffs.

Left Guard

>Starter: Yahya Attia

>Backup: Jayvon McFadden or Chauncey Gooden

>Attia has the inside track to the starting left guard job after coming on strong late last season. He is a favorite of Deion Sanders and the Colorado coaching staff. The backup will be fascinating with McFadden competing for both guard spots, with his best chance at right guard.

Center

>Starter: Demetrius Hunter

>Backup: Sean Kinney

>Probably the most straightforward position along the offensive line. Hunter has extensive experience as a Power Four center and should win the job. Kinney is a solid backup as a transfer from Lafayette.

Right Guard

>Starter: Jose Soto

>Backup: Jayvon McFadden

>I am going with Soto because of his familiarity with the Go-Go offense, but it would not surprise me at all to see Ohio State transfer Jayvon McFadden start Week 1.

Right Tackle

>Starter: Taj White

>Backup(s): Leon Bell, Larry Johnson III, Phillip Houston)

>The right tackle competition might be camp's most heated battle. White enters camp as the favorite after starting 11 games at the position for Rutgers in 2025. Leon Bell, a transfer from Cal, should give him a run for his money, and you can't count out last year's starter Larry Johnson III.
