Recapping Justin Walley's 2025 seasonUnfortunately, Walley's rookie year was cut short before it could even get going after he suffered an ACL injury in the Colts' joint practice with Baltimore. Up to that point, Walley had impressed and appeared to be on his way to carving out a steady role.
>It was in that joint practice before Walley got injured that defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo knew the Colts had found an impact player.
>"We're in some kind of team drill against them at Baltimore," Anarumo said. "Lamar (Jackson) sees a rookie out there. They run like a double move with (Rashod) Bateman, and most rookies, their eyes would have been in the backfield. He would have got beat. Wally matched the double move, came out of it, ran down the field, broke the pass up, and I was like, 'We got one,' because that was a kind of a rare thing."
Looking ahead to 2026 for Justin WalleyWith the Colts releasing Kenny Moore, Walley will step into the starting nickel cornerback role. Fully healthy, Walley took part in the Colts' minicamp practices and has picked up right where he left off.
>Although Walley was unable to get the on-field reps last season, he is very well-versed with the Colts' playbook and feels better than he did at this time last year, despite coming off a major injury.
>The Colts appreciate the competitive juice Walley brings to the defense and his instincts, which led to strong ball production in college.
