>Due to the ongoing war between the USA and Iran, the latter’s 2026 FIFA World Cup participation came as a shock to many.

>“I’m just glad they’re done, and they’re not coming back. I was so happy when we were able to pull their visas and said they could leave the US soil, and I might’ve sung a song or two or maybe even danced a happy dance,” Mullin said.

>Mullin’s lack of empathy for Iran’s football team certainly stemmed from the military conflict between the two nations.

>After all, as DHS Secretary, Mullin’s job certainly demanded extra attention during games, and combine that with repeated complaints from Iran’s soccer officials, it’s no wonder he’s happy about their elimination.

Markwayne Mullin reveals what Iran did after their World Cup gamesDue to visa restrictions on Iran’s soccer players, they were only allowed entry into the US one day before their games for training purposes.

>But what happened after the games concluded? Mullin explained next.

>“That was just an agreement we had, to just go ahead and let them go. The game was over, let them get back to the hotel, their base camp, where they’re at. They’re more comfortable there.

>“That was just an agreement we worked out with FIFA before the games started,” he stated.

>Iran were eliminated from the World Cup after finishing third in Group G with 3 points, despite going undefeated in the group stage.

>The eight third-place teams that advanced to the Round of 32 all had more points than Iran, albeit some had worse goal difference.
