CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - JUNE 05: Julian Nagelsmann, Head Coach of Germany talks to the media during a Team Germany press conference at Soldier Field on June 05, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. class="has-text-align-none">That is not the case, though. Nagelsmann seemed to like the town and the management of the event in Chicago, even though it is technically not a World Cup host city.
class="has-text-align-none">Sky Germany captured some of Nagelsmann’s reaction to the atmosphere in the Windy City:
“That’s a good introduction to the weather conditions,” said national team coach Nagelsmann. Although Chicago isn’t a tournament host city, it “already felt a bit like the World Cup” to him. This included the typical American spectacle, complete with a slightly delayed flyover by a squadron of planes above the arena.
Chicago, indeed, is a great town, but maybe Germany will be eager to get back to base camp and regroup after a tough weekend.
