Ex-Gator Will Richard wins NBA Summer League title with Warriors

Former Florida basketball guard Will Richard helped the Golden State Warriors win the 2026 NBA Summer League title on Monday. He also helped UF capture the NCAA tournament crown in 2025, playing a significant role for Todd Golden and the Gators, who defeated Houston 65-63 in the decisive game.

>Richard continues the winning trajectory he started at Woodward Academy, where he earned first-team All-State honors as a senior and helped the team win the Georgia 4A State Championship as a junior. He began his career at Belmont in 2021, where he was named to the Ohio Valley Conference all-newcomer team, before transferring to Florida in 2022.

>With the Warriors, Richard proved to be a versatile, two-way player. The 6-foot-3-inch, 206-pound, Fairburn, Georgia, native showcased his potential at the professional level this summer in Las Vegas. He appeared in five Summer League games, posting 9.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 47.4% from three-point range. The Warriors rallied to erase a double-digit deficit and defeat Memphis 94-90 in the championship game.

>During his rookie campaign, Richard played in 69 contests, averaging 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. In his first NBA start, just nine games into the 2025-26 season, the second-round selection dropped 30 points — a testament to his offensive upside.
