First FIFA member association to pull support from Gianni Infantino’s Presidency revealed

>Infantino’s bold move to privatise the World Cup by selling a 20% stake in the tournament’s logistics was widely condemned as a move to sell the sport and weaken its integrity.

>After the continental confederations rallied to stop Infantino’s FFE plan before he could formally introduce it, specific member states are now targeting new leadership at the helm.

Wales Football Association officially withdraw support from Gianni InfantinoAfter UEFA’s leading role in stopping the FFE plan and open condemnation of Infantino, the Welsh FA has released a statement to Sky News, attacking Infantino and withdrawing support from his 2027 FIFA Presidency re-election plans.

>“The recent failures in good governance, processes, leadership, values, stakeholder management, communications, and sound judgement have led us to a position where Mr Infantino has lost the confidence of the FAW to remain at the helm of world football. Failing to put the best interests of football first is a failure we cannot accept.”

>However, instead of risking losing that vote with Infantino’s voter base in Africa and Asia, the member associations are targeting the election to ensure he can’t run football for four more years or be removed from power sooner.

>More European nations could release individual statements to trigger a chain response from other supportive nations in CONCACAF and AFC, who also publicly condemned Infantino’s FFE plan, but they haven’t gone as far as to say they will no longer support Infantino as FIFA President.
