Giants' Jaxson Dart 'absolutely' has a chip on his shoulder in 2026

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart enters his second season operating under an all-new infrastructure, brand-new coaching staff, and a completely different offensive playbook, but with the same old bravado.

>Dart, who burst onto the scene last year as a rookie with his seat-of-the-pants, devil-may-care style, captured the imagination of Giants fans and created an optimism not seen here in over a dozen years.

>The Giants didn't improve in the standings, however, winning just four games. That led the team to bring in an established winner, John Harbaugh, as the head coach.

>On Wednesday, at the Giants' first day of practice of their 2026 training camp in West Virginia, Dart spoke about Harbaugh and how he sees things panning out in the future.

>"Man, I love Harbs," Dart told reporters when asked about his impression of the new coach. "Just his intensity, his love for the game, his leadership. There are a lot of things that stand out as to why he's been so successful in this league. All of us are just focused on buying in and taking the necessary steps for all of us to grow each and every day. Just super pumped for right now and continuing to move forward with him."

>Dart was then asked to describe Harbaugh's on-field coaching demeanor.

>"I'm interested to see how it continues to grow the more practices that we have. But right now, he's very observant," said Dart. "He's very observant from every single facet. From the offense to the defense, the special teams. He has his hand in every single one of them, of his expectations. Things that he likes.

>"I just think the really cool thing is he's so open to communication, from the coaching staff to the players. I think that's just been really cool to have that openness, no ego. Ultimately, he just wants to, obviously, win. He's got a chip on his shoulder. I'm interested to see how his demeanor continues to grow as we go forward."

>Which leads to the question: Does Dart have a chip on his own shoulder this summer?

>"Absolutely," he said.

>Why?

>"Because we didn't have a good year last year. I can't wait for this upcoming year. This whole offseason I've just been waiting to get back with the guys. I really like where we're at. We've got to continue to grow," he said.

"I saw what it was like last year for a tough season & it was new for my career. I want to make sure that doesn't happen again."

>But the biggest adds will come in the addition of free agent tight end Isaiah Likely and the return of star wideout Malik Nabers, whom Dart played in just one game with in 2025.
