— Tashan Reed (@tashanreed) September 2, 2026While fellow edge rusher Odafe Oweh wasn’t practicing, head coach Dan Quinn said the Commanders were hopeful he’d return to practice next week.
>As for Chaisson, Quinn said he was progressing toward a Week 1 return. The Commanders travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles on Sept. 13 in the season opener.
>Chaisson, 27, signed a one-year deal this offseason after coming off an impressive 2025 season with the New England Patriots. He, along with Oweh, was having a dominant training camp before each dealt with separate injuries.
>Oweh and Chaisson’s absences allowed rookie Joshua Josephs to get more snaps on the edge.
>In more good news for the Commanders, starting running back Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt was also on the practice field for the second consecutive day.
>While it’s been a difficult summer for Washington on the injury front, several key players are getting healthy at the right time and should be ready for Week 1.
