Hamilton High School on June 4 announced the retirement of longtime softball head coach Steve Heckman.
>Heckman, the head coach of the Big Blue for 34 years, was a five-time Greater Miami Conference Coach of the Year and won 474 games at Hamilton.
>Under Heckman, Hamilton reached the Ohio High School Athletic Association state tournament three times, in 2001, 2002 and 2006. The 2001 Big Blue finished as Division I runner-up, falling 4-1 to Youngstown Boardman in the state final.
