Highlights! Tahir Abdullayev Sparks UFC Baku With Comeback TKO

(Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC) Tahir Abdullayev pulled off a debut comeback earlier today (Sat., June 27, 2026) at UFC Baku LIVE on Paramount+ from inside National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, Azerbaijan, stopping fellow Octagon newcomer Jefferson Nascimento with a third-round TKO (punches).

class="wp-block-paragraph">Nascimento was stepping up in weight and on short notice, but fight fans still expected the previously undefeated Brazilian prospect to give Abdullayev all he can handle. Abdullayev, who fights out of Azerbaijan, was a betting favorite to take care of business on home soil. However, there were concerns about his wildness inside of the cage and three-round gas tank, even against an opponent off the couch.

class="wp-block-paragraph">This fight didn’t offer much over the first two rounds. Offense was limited and there were very few moments of note. That all changed in the third round when Abdullayev went for broke. He unloaded heavy combinations on the feet and forced Nascimento into a firefight. Nascimento responded with his own shots, but Abdullayev was able to mix in a few takedowns to gain top control. From there, Abdullayev rained down heavy ground-and-pound that appeared to hurt Nascimento. The referee eventually stepped in even though Nascimento protested the call.
