>Hull KR completed a 26-12 victory over rivals Hull FC at Hill Dickinson Stadium on the opening day of Magic Weekend 2026.

>The win keeps Hull KR firmly in the Betfred Super League top six thanks to their points difference, with Hull FC in 10th and Bradford on their tail.

>It also marks the Robins' eighth derby win in a row after Andy Last's side ran out of steam in the closing stages.

>Hull KR had a narrow 12-4 lead at half-time thanks to tries from Mikey Lewis and Rhyse Martin, the latter converting his own score to take the Robins into double figures, plus adding a late penalty.

>Hull FC hit back through Jake Arthur but Zak Hardaker could not add the conversion leaving them eight points adrift at the break.

>The Black and Whites came out in the second half and found a converted Tom Briscoe try and a Hardaker penalty but Rovers then took control once again.

>With Jai Whitbread and Tyrone May going over, plus Martin adding another penalty, they completed the 26-12 derby win.

>The Hull derby was always going to take things up a notch at Magic Weekend and with a sea of red and white fans opposite a sea of black and white fans, that's what the two sides did.

>It looked like they were in the grind in the opening exchanges as Sauaso Sue and Briscoe had efforts chalked off in the first 15 minutes for their respective teams.

>However, up stepped Lewis. After sending up a speculative kick which was allowed to bounce, the Robins' No 6 picked up the scraps for a 4-0 lead.

>Just six minutes later, KR were in again when Lewis popped the ball off to Martin. He made sure to burst through a tackle from close range to touch down just left of the posts. With the conversion of his own effort, KR took a 10-0 lead.

>It did not take long until Hull FC hit back through Arthur. The half-back bulldozed through the defensive line, taking two men with him, to get his side on the scoreboard and bring the score to 10-4 with just under half an hour played.

>With both defences standing tall, the next points came from a penalty to Hull KR for a dangerous tackle from Cade Cust. Martin obliged with the boot to move his side eight points in front at half-time.

>Hull FC knew they had to come out for the second 40 firing, and they did just that when Briscoe went over in the 44th minute, their shape eluding Jack Broadbent and allowing the winger to dive in at the corner and score. With Hardaker converting, FC moved within two points of their fiercest foes.

>In the 58th minute, a penalty to Last's side after a period of pressure gave them the simplest of conversions to level the game and they took it. With 20 minutes left, the derby was locked at 12-12.

>It felt like the Black and Whites had the momentum, but the Robins scrambled and scrambled. Then, when it looked like their chance arrived, Broadbent could not finish it off.

>Out wide they went to Broadbent on the wing and he looked certain to go over, but, instead of diving, he tried to slide over and was taken into touch.

>"That might be the magic moment for The Robins!"

>It looked like Hull KR's moment had come and gone but a howler from Hull FC's Lewis Martin gifted Whitbread the try. The winger was hit hard in the tackle, the ball came loose, and the prop picked it up to walk in. With the conversion, they had a six-point advantage with 12 minutes left.

>With one try for Hull KR, and a raft of unforced errors for Hull FC, a second came. Jez Litten sent the grubber through from close range and May was running the perfect line to pick it up and go over. A 12-point lead was secured, and Hull FC's hopes had faded.

>The final points of the game came from the boot of Martin with two minutes remaining, consigning Hull FC to another loss and picking up a crucial two points for KR in the play-off race.

>"Absolutely gutted. We worked really, really hard, just a couple of key moments in the game went against us.

>"I'm disappointed they didn't get a sin-bin, Peta Hiku quite obviously pulls one of our players back. That's a key moment. Then, unfortunately, Martin comes out with an error.

>"The game is all about momentum, and we work really hard to get momentum, losing the ascendancy in the second half. We make a line break and I felt we should have got the call there but we didn't.

>"There is a spirit there. I can't ever question the boys' spirit, and you can't ask for much more than what the guys gave today. Going against a top team and taking them to the last stage of the game, but disappointing not to get the result for the travelling fans."

>Hull KR head coach Willie Peters to Sky Sports:

>"That was a hard-fought win. I knew what FC were going to bring.

>"It got to 12-all and we had to fight. I'm really happy that we found a way to win at the end.

>"We needed to fight for the win. We got a result, which is the main thing. Our performances need to improve, but it is nice to get a derby win."
