With the Jacksonville Jaguars' training camp practices just a few weeks away, the expectation is that Travis Hunter will be a "full go."

>James Gladstone mentioned the start of training camp as the target return date for Hunter earlier this offseason, and the NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe recently echoed that sentiment.

"He's ready to be unleashed and show why they drafted him No. 2 overall," said Wolfe. "Talking to people there down in Jacksonville, he's running over 20 mph, which was faster than he ran before that knee injury. He's cutting, he's in great shape, he should be a full go for training camp."

To keep Hunter sharp and involved during offseason programs without him able to be on the practice field, in addition to attending both the offensive and defensive meetings, he spends time each day in the Jaguars' virtual room. This allows him to get mental reps from the wide receivers' and defensive backs' perspective on the field.

— Cameron Wolfe (@CameronWolfe) July 8, 2026Travis Hunter's playing time in 2026The Jaguars still plan for Hunter to continue playing on both sides of the ball, but his workload on defense compared to last season is going to increase.

>Hunter is projected to start at outside cornerback opposite Montaric Brown, and the team believes that he has the potential not only to be elite at that position but also to achieve that status quite quickly.

"He is still going to play both sides of the ball," Wolfe added. "The cool thing for Travis Hunter and the Jags is they can now unleash him as a starter on defense and the goal is was to eventually have him play nearly all the snaps on defense in a particular game and they think he can be elite on that side of the ball."

Wolfe continued, "I had one coach with the Jaguars tell me if he can continue to develop and show what he started to show last year, you guys -- the media -- are going to be talking about him as a top 10 cornerback at this time next year. That's their belief in him. That's why they are putting commitment in him playing that much on defense. He will still play a lot on offense and make an impact on that."

Wolfe added that Hunter's playing time each week on offense could fluctuate based on in-game situations and what the matchup dictates.

>The depth that the Jaguars have at wide receiver with Hunter, Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Parker Washington will also allow Liam Coen to rotate regularly at this position, keeping players fresh and to play matchups.

"Travis has been in the building working on both sides of the ball," said Wolfe, so much so that he's been doing meetings on offense, defense, and getting lifts all in the same day. He's pushing the head coach, Liam Coen, and the GM, James Gladstone, to give him more, not less, and that's what I expect from Travis Hunter this season."
