Jacoby Brissett absent again as Arizona Cardinals begin final week of OTAs

The Arizona Cardinals opened their final week of voluntary offseason work on Monday, the first of three practices scheduled. Once again, quarterback Jacoby Brissett was not present, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss.

>Brissett has not shown up for any of the voluntary part of the offseason program, seeking a reworked contract.

>He is scheduled to make $4.9 million in salary in 2026, of which $1.5 million is guaranteed, and up to $510,000 in per-game roster bonuses. However, after starting 12 games last season to end the season, he is expected to be the Cardinals' QB1, and he wants to be paid appropriately.

>Expected starting quarterbacks not on a cost-controlled rookie contract are all making at least $19.5 million in 2026.

>Brissett had a career-high 3,366 passing yards and 23 touchdown passes, and tight end Trey McBride and receiver Michael Wilson had career seasons, but the Cardinals went 1-11 in Brissett's starts, losing the final nine games, six of which were by more than two scores.

>The Cardinals reportedly are amenable to a reworked deal, but the two sides are reportedly "significantly" apart in terms of compensation.

>Mandatory minicamp is next week, June 8-10. If he doesn't show up for that, he will be fined.

>In the meantime, Gardner Minshew, who has 47 career starts, has been running the first-team offense in practices, and rookie Carson Beck, drafted in the third round, has been getting reps he otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

>This continues to be the biggest cloud hanging over the Cardinals this offseason. We will see if he ends up showing up next week, and if he shows, whether he participates or not.
