>Brian Schottenheimer came into his second training camp in Oxnard with a clear agenda that included more pads, more physicality and less footage leaking out of practice. After an underwhelming 7-9-1 finish in his first year as Dallas Cowboys head coach, he had every reason to want to clamp down on the team's environment. Then his owner Jerry Jones stepped in.

>During a padded practice session in Oxnard, team officials sent an email to media members asking them to stop recording video. The message read, "Guys, let's cut out the videos. We're showing too much of what's going on here."

>However, the restriction didn't last long. Dallas radio host Gavin Dawson reported that media members pushed back immediately, taking their objections straight to the top.

>"There was quite a kerfuffle earlier as the media was told to not take videos," Dawson said on air. "They appealed to the true power brokers of this organization, AKA the Jones Boys. Next thing you know, the videos are back up and running."

>That outcome surprised no one who has followed this franchise for a long time. Jones has spent decades treating the Cowboys as must-watch entertainment, and he's never been shy about it.

>At the Netflix Cowboys docuseries premiere, Jones summed up his operating philosophy, saying, "I do believe if we're not being looked at then I'll do my part to get us looked at… The Cowboys are a soap opera 365 days a year. When it gets slow, I'll stir it up."
