When Canada play their World Cup opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday night at 21:00 CEST, they will be without their captain.
>As Canada coach Jesse Marsch confirmed at his pre-match press conference, Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies will not be involved as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury.
>However, Marsch said Davies is progressing well, having undergone an MRI earlier this week.
>“It showed very positive signs that he’s healing incredibly well, almost completely, so we’re getting ready to ramp things up,” Marsch said.
>“He’s shown, as he always has, a really strong ability to recover from muscle injuries.
>“We’re really hopeful that over the next days and weeks we can accelerate things to give him a chance to contribute.”
