Jesus Sanchez injury updateSanchez was forced from Sunday's match after injuring his wrist in the bottom of the sixth inning. His malady came in the most inconspicuous of circumstances. Sanchez was patrolling his post in right field in between the action.

>Then, a projectile appeared. Sanchez was struck by a baseball that flew from the stands at Camden Yards. The ball hit him flush on his throwing hand, prompting him to crouch on the field in pain.

— Jomboy Media (@JomboyMedia) May 31, 2026Toronto's medical personnel streamed onto the field to tend to Sanchez's wounds. After a brief examination, Sanchez was removed in favor of Yohendrick Pinango.

>Postgame, Blue Jays manager John Schneider explained that the ball came from a young fan who was having a "playful" back-and-forth with a 12-year-old. Schneider said Sanchez motioned to the child "almost like 'Let's have a catch.'"

>"And I think the kid took it literally and hit with the ball," Schneider said.

>Sanchez confirmed Schneider's view of the play, telling reporters through an interpreter that the incident was a "misunderstanding."

>"I wasn't trying to play catch right there with him, but I just looked at him and [he] thought maybe that I wanted him to throw the ball back to me."

>Schneider confirmed that scans on Sanchez's wrist came back negative.
