“Keep an eye on…” – Fabrizio Romano teases potential Liverpool transferLiverpool Transfer Latest: Cody Gakpo Stance Clear Amid Tottenham Interest

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Liverpool’s summer window has already carried a sense of urgency, and Fabrizio Romano has now added another name to the list of situations worth monitoring, Cody Gakpo.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Credit to Fabrizio Romano, who has reported that Tottenham hold an interest in the Netherlands international, although Liverpool’s current stance remains firm. At the beginning of July, there is no indication that the club are actively looking to sell the 27-year-old.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">“Keep an eye on Tottenham for Cody Gakpo. They have interest in the player,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">“I can tell you that Liverpool, as of today, beginning of July, are not opening doors to an exit. They are not telling Gakpo, ‘Okay, you can leave’, are not telling Tottenham, ‘Okay, let’s negotiate’. This is not happening now, so, at the moment, the door is closed at Liverpool.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">“We have to see later on this summer in case Tottenham open talks by sending a proposal. If they send a proposal, we have to see what happens there.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">“It’s a story to keep an eye on eventually – it’s not something that’s guaranteed at this stage.”

Squad Depth Remains Key

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Liverpool are not overflowing with reliable wide options. Victor Munoz has arrived and can provide flexibility, while Alexander Isak is expected to lead the line centrally. Rio Ngumoha may earn more minutes, but it would be a major leap to expect him to carry regular responsibility across a long Premier League and European campaign.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Gakpo also offers central cover, which matters. Selling him without at least one senior replacement, and arguably two, would leave Liverpool short in an area where depth can define a season.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Tottenham’s interest should therefore be taken seriously, but not dramatically. Interest alone does not create a transfer. A formal proposal, Liverpool’s valuation, Gakpo’s own view and Iraola’s assessment will all matter.

Gakpo Decision May Come Later

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">For now, Liverpool’s message appears simple, the door is closed. That could change later in the window if Tottenham make a serious move, or if Liverpool accelerate plans for another winger.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Until then, Gakpo remains a Liverpool player with something to prove. For Iraola, keeping him may be the most sensible short-term call.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">From a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, this feels like one of those stories that needs calm heads. Cody Gakpo was frustrating last season, that much is fair. He looked stretched, his output dropped, and at times he seemed caught between roles rather than thriving in one.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">Yet selling him now would be risky. Liverpool have changed head coach, changed parts of the squad, and entered another summer where attacking depth feels central to the plan. Gakpo may not be untouchable, but he is useful. That matters.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">There is also the Iraola factor. A new coach may see something different. Gakpo’s ball-striking, height, movement off the left and ability to play centrally could all be valuable in a refreshed system. Supporters can fairly ask for more, but writing him off before Iraola has had pre-season would feel hasty.

>

class="isSelectedEnd" style="text-align: justify;">If Tottenham want him, Liverpool should demand a serious fee. No soft deal, no late-window bargain, no weakening the squad for a domestic rival without full protection in the market.

>

style="text-align: justify;">The ideal outcome may be simple, keep Gakpo, add another winger, then reassess next summer. Liverpool need competition, not another numbers problem.
