Kentucky's Kam Williams gives update on surgically repaired foot

In each of the first two of Mark Pope's seasons as the head Kentucky basketball coach, injuries have been a major storyline. The Wildcats would love to avoid that this year, but Kam Williams has to get healthy first.

>Last year, Williams suffered a broken foot that forced him out of the rest of the regular season games. He returned for the postseason, looking to spark an NCAA Tournament run, but may have reinjured it in doing so. That resulted in a second surgery on the foot this offseason.

>Fans, naturally, worried about another injury before the season started. Mark Pope had previously said that Williams was progressing well, but this week, Williams himself took the time to address the injury to the media as presented by Kentucky Sports Radio.

“Obviously, I was preparing to come back for the summer, like in May or whatever, and started working out more and more. Then went up for another imaging process or whatever, and we just didn’t like how it looked in a way.

As with Pope, Williams is confident he'll be ready for the season. When asked about being ready for the first game of the season, he answered, "For sure."

>Williams figures to be a key piece of the roster next season. He brings experience, a terrific three-point shot, and great athleticism. Nothing is certain yet, but it sounds like things are going well, and Big Blue Nation will be happy to see him on the floor for game one.
