The 2026 TBT (The Basketball Tournament) was an exciting and hard-fought event that saw the Kentucky basketball alumni team, La Familia, make it all the way to the championship game on Sunday. They faced off against Davis Steel in the final, and unfortunately, came up a bit short, falling 67-59.
>Poor shooting was La Familia's undoing. They made just 34% of their shots overall, and made just 56% of their free throws. Davis Steel also struggled with their shots, but made the freebies. They also outrebounded the Wildcats and got too many second chance points.
>As has been the case since his return, Archie Goodwin led La Familia in the final with 19 points, while Willie Cauley-Stein worked hard inside with 10 points and 13 rebounds. They were the only to score in double figures.
>Overall, despite some drama in the opening around against Louisville's team, it was a positive experience for the players and the fans alike. A championship, and the $2 million prize would have been nice, but there was plenty to cheer for, and Big Blue Nation got a chance to see some fan favorites in action. Congrats to La Familia on a deep run and a successful tournament.
