>Trailing in the series and facing a ruthless Madison Square Garden crowd, the San Antonio Spurs found their answers Monday night, shocking the New York Knicks to officially turn the NBA Finals into a series with a 115-111 win in Game 3.
>The Spurs, who dropped the first two games at home, found themselves trailing at halftime and staring down a 3-0 hole. But, Mitch Johnson’s young San Antonio team responded in the second half; Victor Wembanyama led the way with 32 points, and right behind him was Stephon Castle who had 23 of his own. The Spurs held the Knicks to just 20 points in the final frame, where New York started the quarter shooting 0-for-10 from three.
>Across the court, Jalen Brunson’s 32 and O.G. Anunoby’s 28 were not enough for the Knicks, who suffered their first loss of the series. Though New York took a six-point lead into halftime, it was the Spurs who threw a bigger punch in the second half, outscoring the Knicks by 10 in the final 24 minutes to get on the board in the series. The Knicks suffer their first loss since April 23, ending a 13-game win streak that started in the first round of the playoffs.
>With the Knicks now leading 2-1, the teams will return to action on Wednesday night at the World’s Most Famous Arena for a pivotal Game 4. The Knicks can take a commanding series lead with a win at home, while the Spurs can even up the series with another road win. But, it’s official: we have a series.
