La Salle lacrosse thumps Springfield-Delco to reach PIAA title game

WEST CHESTER — A year after losing to the same team in the same spot, La Salle's lacrosse team made sure history didn't repeat itself.
>And the Explorers made sure in a hurry.
>A flurry of early goals, and then a bunch more the rest of the way, gave La Salle a 12-4 win over defending PIAA Class 3A champion Springfield-Delco on Tuesday night at West Chester East. The win moved the Explorers into Saturday's PIAA title game at Penn State (5:30 p.m.) against District One runner-up Radnor, a 16-3 victor over Manheim Township from District Three. Radnor defeated La Salle in the 2024 state final 9-6.
>"They beat us last year and we remembered and that gave us more motivation," La Salle senior Cooper Heilig said.

>"We were ready to go and we started fast and everyone just played really well."
>La Salle, the District 12 champion, had a 4-0 lead before the game was eight minutes old and was never threatened over the four quarters.
>"Our guys came out fast and got the offense going and kept at it," La Salle second-year head coach Jack Forster said.
>"They were motivated by what happened last year and our team leaders did a great job of keeping everyone focused."

>The Explorers' first seven goals came from seven different players before sophomore Mason Smith netted his second goal of the game to make it 8-2 at halftime.
>"We were pretty confident coming into the game and we stuck to our gameplan," La Salle senior Dylan Malone said.
>"And a bunch of guys scored goals and it shows that our offense is pretty well-rounded. Everybody just played great for us."
