Lakers predicted to trade Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia for $85M NBA champion in 3-team mega deal originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

>The Los Angeles Lakers have been searching for a new starting wing after LeBron James informed the organization that he would not be returning. The franchise appears ready to move forward as it enters the Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves era.

>James is beginning the next chapter of his career as his relationship with the Lakers has shifted over the past few years. Next season will also be historic, as he is set to play in his unprecedented 24th NBA season.

>“LeBron James will return for an unprecedented 24th season in the NBA -- but it won't be with the Los Angeles Lakers. James has informed the Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday,” ESPN wrote.

>One name that has consistently been linked to the Lakers is NBA champion Jonathan Kuminga. There appears to be mutual interest between both sides in joining forces.

>“There is mutual free agent interest between Jonathan Kuminga and the Lakers, per Jovan Buha. Los Angeles continues to work behind the scenes to secure Kuminga’s commitment as their new wing addition,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.

>The biggest hurdle remains working out a sign-and-trade agreement. Sports Illustrated’s Rohan Roman recently proposed a three-team trade that would send Kuminga to the Lakers, Myles Turner to the Atlanta Hawks, and Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia, and Zaccharie Risacher to the Milwaukee Bucks.

>“Hawks Receive: Myles Turner, 2031 2nd round pick (via WAS, from LAL) and 2033 2nd round pick (via LAL). Lakers Receive: Jonathan Kuminga (re-signed to 4-year, $85.5 million), Jericho Sims. Bucks Receive: Zaccharie Risacher, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia, 2029 1st-round pick (via Atlanta, top-five protected), 2027 2nd round pick (via ATL), 2029 2nd round pick (via ATL),” Roman wrote.

>The proposed deal would address needs for all three teams, especially the Lakers. Los Angeles would finally land the wing it has been pursuing, while the Bucks would continue reshaping their roster and the Hawks would add an established center in Turner.

>Kuminga would also receive a new four-year, $85.5 million contract as part of the deal. If the Lakers remain committed to making him their top wing addition, they could continue exploring every possible avenue to complete a sign-and-trade.
