The Jacksonville Jaguars keep their strong special teams core intact following the latest contract extension for long-snapper Ross Matiscik.
>According to Ian Rapoport, two years were added to Matiscik's current deal, keeping him in Jacksonville through the 2028 season. The $3.8 million in new money makes Matiscik the highest-paid long-snapper in the NFL.
>It was just last summer that the Jaguars signed punter Logan Cooke to a four-year extension, which at the time made him the highest-paid punter in football.
>Cooke is now under contract through the 2029 season.
>Kicker Cam Little, meanwhile, still has two years left on his rookie deal. Next offseason, he will be contract extension eligible.
>Matiscik is a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowler. Cooke was named a Pro Bowler in 2024 and a second-team All-Pro that year as well. Little holds the NFL record for the longest kick made in a regular-season game.
>Together, this trio is one of the top special teams units in the NFL. Jaguars' special teams coordinator Heath Farwell recently highlighted what makes these three so effective.
>"The way you see them work every day, there's a reason why they're so talented and why they're so good," special teams coordinator Heath Farwell said, via Jaguars.com. "They're typically the first guys out here on the field warming up, getting ready, prepping, they are so much about it. It's important to be great. They help each other; they hold each other accountable. Together the three of them, they bond and it's special to watch."
