Los Angeles Chargers news: Bolts sign TE Hayden Rucci, release WR Gary Jennings

Good morning, Chargers fans!

class="wp-block-paragraph">Following the placement of Charlie Kolar and David Njoku on injured reserve this week, the Chargers are signing former Dolphins and 49er tight end Hayden Rucci to the active roster. He will join Oronde Gadsden II as the only two tight ends on the Chargers roster as of Wednesday morning.

class="wp-block-paragraph">Rucci played his collegiate football at Wisconsin where he caught 17 career passes for 200 yards and one touchdown. At the NFL Combine, Rucci measured in at 6’5 and 247 pounds. He ran his 40 in 5.04 seconds, jumped 32 inches in the vertical, and had a short shuttle time of 4.40.

class="wp-block-paragraph">In four career games played (all in 2025 with the Dolphins), Rucci played 39 total snaps. Most of those came as a run blocker (29) where he finished with an overall season run block grade of 56.6.
