Fenerbahce have struck a deal with Nathan Ake for the defender to join from Manchester City.

>The Turkish club, who were runners-up in the SuperLig last year, announced that the Netherlands international had agreed a contract with them.

>That was confirmed by City on Saturday with an deal agreed for a £7m transfer, rising to £8.5m in add-ons.

>Ake is entering the last year of his contract with City, meaning this summer is the last realistic chance to recoup a fee for him.

Man City’s view is that no move for Nathan Ake has been arranged (Getty)"Our club has reached an agreement with and signed a contract with Nathan Ake, a player for the Dutch national team,” Fenerbahce said in a statement.

>"Ake, who has been playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join our team at the Austrian training camp after his leave of absence."

>City released a statement that reads: “Nathan Ake has joined Turkish side Fenerbahce, subject to international clearance, bringing an end to a hugely successful six-year stay with Manchester City.”

>Ake cost City £41m from Bournemouth in 2021 and has gone on to make 177 appearances, scoring 10 goals. He figured most often in the treble season of 2022-23 and the following campaign.

>While he made 32 appearances last season, he only started six Premier League games, though he began the Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal.

>But with Josko Gvardiol signing a new contract, Marc Guehi arriving in January, Abdukodir Khusanov improving and Ruben Dias remaining at the Etihad Stadium, he faces being fifth-choice centre-back next year.
