Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver wanted a larger role in the offense, and he showed why during Saturday’s 31-21 loss to Kentucky.

>During ESPN’s broadcast, the announcing crew reported that Craver had reached out to offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins about getting more touches. Whether that conversation directly influenced the game plan, Craver received his largest workload of the season and turned it into his most productive performance.

>The junior caught a career-high 11 passes for 119 yards, leading the Aggies in both categories. He consistently created separation, gave Marcel Reed a dependable target, and helped Texas A&M move the football despite broader offensive struggles.

>Craver’s increased involvement became even more important as the Aggies’ depth at the skill positions continued to shrink.

>Texas A&M entered the game without running back Jamarion Morrow and wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman. Terry Bussey was injured while returning the opening kickoff, and freshman running back KJ Edwards went down later in the contest after making the most of his limited opportunities.

>Those injuries left the Aggies without several explosive options. Craver responded by becoming the focal point of the passing game and accounting for more than half of Reed’s 236 passing yards.

>The performance also reminded everyone what Craver has already proven he can do. He finished the 2025 season with 59 receptions for 917 yards and four touchdowns, earning second-team All-America honors from the Football Writers Association of America. He entered 2026 as the most established playmaker in Texas A&M’s receiving corps.

>Craver cannot solve every problem facing the offense. The offensive line, running game and Reed’s decision-making are still searching for consistency. However, Saturday showed that giving him more opportunities gives Texas A&M its best chance to create explosive plays and sustain drives.

>With LSU next on the schedule and the availability of Bussey and Edwards uncertain, Wiggins should not need another reminder. Craver asked for more touches, and his production against Kentucky proved he deserves them.
