Arizona sprinter Mason Laywer had himself a day Friday at the NCAA West Regionals, qualifying for next month’s NCAA Championships in the men’s 100m and 200m dashes

class="has-text-align-none">Lawyer was also part of the Arizona 4x100m relay team that qualified for championships next month in Eugene, Ore.

class="has-text-align-none">The third day of regionals in Fayetteville, Ark. saw six Wildcats male athletes punch their tickets for championships, joining shot putter Tyler Michelini, who advanced on Wednesday.

class="has-text-align-none">Lawyer, the Big 12 champion in both the 100m and 200m dashes, continued his strong outdoor season with his performances on Friday. Lawyer finished third in the 100m with a time of 10.03. He took fourth in the 200m with a time of 20.28.

class="has-text-align-none">Lawyer helped the Arizona men’s 4x100m relay team to an eighth place finish. The team, which also consists of James Onanubosi, John Paredes and Parker Duskin, ran a time of 39.02 to qualify for championships.

class="has-text-align-none">Paredes also qualified in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.47, good enough for 11th place.

class="has-text-align-none">Antone Smith joined the travel party to Eugene with a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, earning a mark of 16.59m (54-51/4).

class="has-text-align-none">In the field events, Arizona’s Sam Hala’Ufia qualified in the discuss with a mark of 56.92m (186-9) for 10th place.

class="has-text-align-none">The NCAA West Regionals wrap up Saturday with women’s events. Arizona will be represented in eight events, including the 4x100m relay.
