The Brooklyn Nets have a little over two weeks before they have to decide who they will be taking with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft on Jun. 23. Brooklyn has been linked to various players over the course of the pre-draft process and while all of the players are talented in their own right, two of them will seemingly be competing against each other.
>"I haven't had any of these group workouts, but I'll be having a couple soon. I'm going to Brooklyn in a couple days," New Zealand Breakers forward Karim Lopez said in a recent interview with Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo! Sports. Lopez is considered one of the players that could be taken in the Lottery, but it's possible that he's held in higher regard given what some of his future workouts are going to look like.
>"I'm going up against Nate Ament, I think that's who's going to be in that workout. I'm super excited for that. I feel like it's going to be a good one, I'm excited for that," Lopez continued. Tennessee forward Nate Ament is another player that has been linked to the Nets up to this point in the pre-draft calendar so this workout could be Brooklyn trying to see which player they prefer depending on the workout.
>Lopez, 19, has not only played for the Breakers of Australia's National Basketball League (NBL), but he has also represented his native Mexico in FIBA and Olympic competition. During his 2025-26 season with the Breakers, Lopez averaged 11.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 50.2% from the field and 32.6% from behind the three-point line.
>"He would be a good fit for teams that have available roles and see a valuable archetype with Lopez's potential to provide physicality at the 4, spot-up shooting and ball-screen playmaking," Jonathan Wasserman wrote of Lopez in his latest mock draft for Bleacher Report. Lopez is likely one of the players in consideration for the Nets with the No. 6 pick, but this upcoming workout could determine how interested Brooklyn is in his future.
