‘Never fly in the NBA…’ Stephanie White’s ‘humbled’ jab next to Caitlin Clark draws major backlash

>The Fever lost 102-85 in a blowout to the reigning WNBA champions, as Caitlin Clark and the rest of the team struggled to get going on the offensive end.

>The Aces showed why they are considered the best team in the league, and handled the Fever with relative ease.

>She added that this humbling loss will be a learning experience for the side, and she hopes they can use it to bounce back in the next few games.

“It’s experience. There’s no substitute for experience. Some of them got it a year ago. Oftentimes, you have to be humble first. That’s life.

>“You don’t always learn from successes. You learn from being humbled. We know. We felt the difference in the intensity level.”

>Fans were understandably frustrated with White’s comments, especially given Caitlin Clark’s body language during and after her comments.

>One fan wrote, “You see Boston look over at Caitlin? Body language from both Boston and CC tell the whole story. This would never fly in the NBA.”

>Another fan added, “She never says ‘I need to do a better job’. The passive-aggressive insults directed at CC are juvenile.”

>A third fan welcomed the possible series loss if it led to direct consequences, noting, “If getting knocked out of the playoffs in two games gets rid of White, bring it on.”

>“You want your players humbled or humiliated? Because there’s a fine line there somewhere,” a fourth fan asked, completely baffled by White’s remarks.

>A fifth fan hinted at more tension within the team by saying, “When White talks about people needing to be humbled, Boston looks right at Clark. Seems like the team is more focused on tearing Clark down than winning.

>And lastly, one fan noted that White seemed to take aim at her star player, noting, “She again takes a shot at CC who was not able to play last year.”

>There’s no way to put it lightly – the Fever are in a must-win situation going into Game 2. Staring down the face of a 2-0 deficit in the playoffs against the best team in the league will be too high a mountain for them to overcome.

>While Caitlin Clark going 6-for-17 from the field and 3-for-10 from beyond the arc is something the Fever cannot afford, White’s comments felt completely unnecessary.
