After the Los Angeles Angels fired general manager Perry Minasian on Friday, first-year manager Kurt Suzuki’s job seemed like it could be in danger. Under Suzuki this season, the Angels are 34-49.

Mozeliak is expected serve as an interim general manager for the Angels until at least the end of the calendar year.

>In his introductory press conference on Saturday, Mozeliak said he does not plan to fire Suzuki nor other members of the Angels’ coaching staff this season.

>“I met with Kurt and most of (the coaches) this morning, and I told them they’re all fine for this year,” Mozeliak said. “There’s nothing they have to worry about. … They all have jobs moving forward. There’s no reason for massive change right away.”

Mozeliak Outlines His Short and Long-Term Plans for the AngelsMozeliak told reporters what his short and long term plans for the Angels are in his introductory press conference. Instead of revamping the coaching staff, Mozeliak first plans to focus on acquiring talent through the 2026 MLB Draft and trade deadline then hiring a new general manager.

>Mozeliak said he hopes focusing on those three things will help the Angels develop into a winning franchise.

>“There’s a short view and a long view, and the short view is going to be coming through the draft, addressing the trade deadline, finding another new general manager,” Mozeliak said. “And then, ultimately, hopefully, we lead to that foundation and structure that provides perpetual winning for the Angels.”
