New York Giants' Francis Mauigoa making his presence felt early in camp

New York Giants rookie offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa is quickly gaining the respect of his teammates at training camp.

>The 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft out of Miami came to the club with a reputation for his relentlessness and power. The fact that the Giants moved him from his natural position of left tackle to right guard hasn't tarnished his reputation one bit. He's making his mark on the field.

>"He's a very energetic kid. I like playing next to him. He holds everyone accountable," said right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor. "You can tell that he has that leadership trait that is rare in a young guy his age. I think, what, he's 21? And so, the sky's the limit for him, too.

>"I think him and Arvell are going to be huge players for us this year. And, yeah, I'm excited to just keep growing with him, getting better. And him learning how I play the game, me learning how he plays the game, helping each other so we can be the best this year."

>The defense has taken notice of the rookie's ability and upside.

>"He's very heavy-handed, and he can move," said nose tackle D.J. Reader. "It’s good to be around some young, joyful energy. I'm getting up there in some years. He's a kid; I know he's going to make me bring it every day. He's going to make me better for it, and he's going to get better for it."

>Reader has a reputation of his own as an immovable object in the middle of the defense. He is impressed with Mauigoa even after just one padded practice.

>"Pretty strong. I don't know, man. I face a lot of guys. He can get some push on you," added Reader. "I tend to believe in myself being pretty strong. He does a good job, though, of bringing the power to you."

>Mauigoa is known to be cordial off the field, but on it, he says very little. He's all business.

>"He talks a little bit in practice, and he talks a lot off the field," said Reader. "He's fun to be around off the field. I've enjoyed our little battles back and forth. We've been having a good time."

>"He's very silent. He doesn’t say much. But when you're on the field, man, you can definitely feel his presence," running back Tyrone Tracy, Jr. said on Monday. "He's going to move people. When he got drafted, he's out there ready to die. That's who he is as a person. He's out there putting it all on the line, each and every play. He's a great player. He's a great player. But at the end of the day, I think it's more than him. The whole offensive line, I think we have a really good offensive line in general."
