>When the New England Patriots made a blockbuster trade for superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown with the Philadelphia Eagles, it was evident that they were trying to pair Drake Maye with a true WR1.

>Maye, who has shown a lot of strides as a young quarterback in this league, has a real opportunity to come out and play just as well as he ever has next year. At the same time, there are going to be obvious questions about what that relationship looks like to start.

>Training camp will give us a good indication of how things might look early on, but Brown also acknowledged recently that his relationship with Maye is only going to improve, and there are things both players have to understand about each other before they can reach their true potential.

>"It started off a little slow. Obviously because I'm going against Gonzo and [Maye] is getting to know me more and more. But as these practices have been going, me and him have been picking up very good momentum,” Brown said, per ESPN.

>The biggest focus for Brown is keeping him level-headed.

>This is a guy who has already proven he can be among the elite of the elite in the NFL at the wide receiver position, though there have been times when he causes some problems if he doesn't get the football as much as he wants. Most don't expect that will be the case with the Patriots, but only time will tell.

>Brown, 29, is coming off a 1,003-yard and seven-touchdown season with the Eagles. Given Philadelphia had a run-first offense, it wouldn't be surprising to see his numbers be even better.

>For now, though, figuring it out with Maye will be more important.
