>A.J. Brown joining Drake Maye, Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots feels like a match made in heaven. But many fans, myself included, are embracing the new All-Pro wide receiver with the assumption that, in the words of George Strait, he is here for a good time, not a long time.
>He is technically under contract until 2029, but there is a clean break built into the fine print in 2027 if both sides are interested. Not to mention the fact that he will be more than three times more expensive in 2029.
>Then one also has to consider the fact that Brown famously became a big distraction in the Philadelphia Eagles locker room before being moved, and you start to see why many view him as a pseudo-rental.
>However, Patriots Hall of Fame wide receiver Troy Brown is viewing the trade through rose-tinted lenses. Troy Brown sees A.J. Brown being a mainstay in New England's offense for years to come.
>"What great players do is they bring other players along with them," Brown said to ESPN's Mike Reiss. "Let's see how many of these guys he can bring along with him with the way he practices, the way he plays, and the passion he has for the game.
>"For Drake, it's a guy he can have confidence throwing to, which means a lot to a quarterback. And they have a chance to build on that chemistry together more than just one year. They could keep going together for the next 4-5 years."
>I am typically overly cautious when it comes to tempering my expectations for the Patriots (who I admittedly love too much). So seeing that Troy Brown believes A.J. Brown's era in Boston could be a lot longer than Stefon Diggs's brings me a little comfort.
