>Boston Red Sox fans have grown incredibly frustrated with the vagueness with which star outfielder Roman Anthony's injury has been handled.

>It has been more than 40 days since he was placed on the injured list with a right wrist injury. In that time, Anthony has already missed 32 games with no return in sight.

>NESN reporter Adam Pellerin provided an injury update on Anthony before Game 2 of Boston's series against the visiting Texas Rangers.

>"There have been more questions than answers in terms of the injury prognosis," Pellerin said. "It's been confirmed that it is a small tear of a ligament in his right ring finger."

>Anthony himself told reporters that, despite rumors of delays throughout his rehab, he is on pace to meet the average return timetable.

>Whether there have been setbacks or not, the unusually long duration of the 22-year-old's injury has been rubbing fans the wrong way.

>Pellerin went on to say that, despite the fact that we now know what the injury is, fans really do not know much more.

>"There is no word on any additional imaging," Pellerin added. "Of course, there is no timetable for his return, no word if there will be another injection of the cortisone shots, and surgery has not been mentioned at this point.

>"So we continue to watch and wait to see what Roman Anthony's status is moving forward."
