>The Boston Red Sox will surprisingly conclude April with a new manager.

>Boston fired Alex Cora and five other coaches on Saturday following a 10-17. Triple-A Worcester skipper Chad Tracy will take over as the Red Sox's interim manager.

>Craig Breslow discussed the choice during Sunday morning's press conference. Boston's chief baseball officer noted that Tracy, who has managed the WooSox since 2022, has already worked with several current Red Sox players.

>"Chad has been in the organization for a while. He's managed at the highest level of our minor league system, and he's familiar with meaningful relationships with a majority of our roster, given the young players that we do have," Breslow said. "He's demonstrated an ability to get the most out of that group, and I think equally important is his ability to build relationships with veteran guys and earn trust and respect. And then also just to be a consistent and familiar and stabilizing voice."

>Breslow endorsed the former MLB infielder, who has never managed a major league team.

>"We believe that Chad is the right guy to handle this transition, and we're gonna put all of our effort into supporting him to do that," Breslow said. "We'll kind of figure out where that leads us."

>Despite backing Tracy, Breslow wouldn't rule out the possibility of seeking out a new permanent manager during the 2026 season.

>"We could be," Breslow said. "It could also be that Chad is exactly what we're looking for. We have full confidence in him. We believe that to be the case. But any time a team is not performing, I think you have to look at all options."
