New Orleans Saints fans only got a brief look at rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson before the team shut him down because of a sore hamstring. This year's first-round pick was still dealing with a hamstring injury that cost him several games last season at Arizona State and flared up again when he was training for the NFL Scouting Combine in February. After seeing what they wanted from him in his first practice with reporters in attendance, the Saints limited Tyson to an observer's role for subsequent practices.

>While that may have come from an abundance of caution, it's still a slow start to the spring. And some rookies have begun to move ahead of Tyson in these "way too early" rankings of the top 50 draft picks in 2026. Here's why NFL Draft OnSI's Justin Melo is so much lower on Tyson than the Saints were in April, bumping him down to No. 13:

"The New Orleans Saints are rolling the dice on Jordyn Tyson's health after selecting the oft-injured wideout at No. 8 overall. A late pre-draft workout for NFL evaluators helped ease concerns. When available, Tyson possesses every trait required to develop into a dominant receiver at the next level. If he pans out, he'll complement Chris Olave while giving ascending quarterback Tyler Shough another option."

Tyson is still the second-highest receiver ranked at OnSi behind Carnell Tate, and honestly No. 13 isn't that far from No. 8. But it's still so a drop down, and a slide out of the top-10 at that. Hopefully he's ready to go at full speed when training camp kicks off later in July.

>On another Saints note, second-round defensive tackle Christen Miller (the No. 42 pick in April's draft) rounded out Melo's list at No. 50. He also missed some time with an injury in the spring but was practicing by the end of minicamp, and figures to be full-go when the team regroups at training camp. So long as Tyson and Miller are practicing every day and making plays through August, no one will be thinking about practice reps they missed in May.
