Southern Miss basketball guard Isaac Taveras withdrew from the transfer portal and announced his return to the program on June 5.
>Taveras entered the transfer portal on April 2 and was one of the best remaining players available when he announced his withdrawal.
>The 6-foot-6 Taveras was the Golden Eagles' second-leading scorer and rebounder last season, averaging 15.3 points and 6.8 boards per game. Taveras also led the team in steals, averaging over 2.2 per contest.
>
>Taveras played in 22 games last season, missing a chunk of conference play with a wrist injury. Upon his return, Southern Miss finished the season winning seven of its final 10 games.
>In the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinal loss to Troy on March 8, Taveras scored a career-high 32 points on 75% shooting, grabbed nine rebounds and tallied four steals. He scored 20 or more points in five games in 2025.
>After a freshman season in which he played sparingly at Fresno State, Taveras played one season at South Plains College, a junior college in Texas, and averaged 16.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
>Taveras will be one of six returning players for the Golden Eagles for the 2026-27 season.
